About

Raised in a small town in the south of the Netherlands, Sjoerd Jansen moved to the United Arab Emirates when he was 10 years old. There he developed his fascination with nature and architecture. Seeing all these futuristic buildings disappear into a vast and empty desert is something that really stuck with him. After moving back to the Netherlands he studied in Rotterdam and Breda where he currently lives and works. Sjoerd enjoys comics, music, movies, art, rock climbing and hiking. Currently freelancing for all kinds of projects and commissions, while also working on paintings for galleries and exhibitions.

With a background in screenprinting, illustration and street art his style was born. Black traditional ink drawings combined with carefully selected colour-palettes. Executed in different ways. Sometimes coloured digitally but also screen-printed or painted with acrylics or watercolours. Sjoerd loves telling stories with his work and making illustrations inspired by (pop)culture, architecture, nature, science-fiction, history and urban-decay.
